Private equity-backed Texas organization looks to reopen closed behavioral health beds

Plano, Texas-based organization Oceans Healthcare is looking to reopen the behavioral health beds at a hospital in Jackson, Miss., Mississippi Today reported Nov. 22.

The private equity-backed organization has applied to lease the recently closed 83-bed behavioral health unit at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital. The hospital stopped accepting additional admissions for behavioral health services June 6 and eliminated 5.5% of the hospital's total workforce.

Oceans Healthcare's application to the Mississippi Department of Health, which was sent in October, seeks to reopen 77 inpatient adult psychiatric beds, leaving the remaining six beds licensed but unused, the report said.
