Premera Blue Cross spending $2.3M to expand behavioral health, housing in Washington and Alaska

Nonprofit Blue Cross Blue Shield licensee Premera Blue Cross is donating $2.3 million to organizations across Washington and Alaska to bolster access to housing and behavioral health services.

Premera Blue Cross is giving $125,000 to Nome (Alaska) Community Center; $150,000 to Bethel (Alaska) Community Services Foundation; $125,000 to NW Children's Foundation in Seattle; $50,000 each to WA Therapy Fund Foundation and Tacoma, Wash.-based Progress House Clubhouse; and $175,000 to Spokane, Wash.-based Transitions, the insurer said May 10.

It is also donating more than $1.72 million in grants and sponsorships for 20 additional organizations, including a $750,000 grant for the Alaska Community Foundation.
