Oregon Medicaid insurers will invest $25 million in projects to add additional residential treatment spaces for youth in the state.
According to a Jan. 4 news release from Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek, the project was formed in response to "record, unanticipated profits" the state's Medicaid coordinated care organizations brought in during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The state and CCOs developed a plan to reinvest surplus Medicaid dollars into Oregon communities, and this partnership will support youth behavioral health projects that we desperately need," Ms. Kotek said in the release.
The $25 million will go toward four projects aimed at increasing psychiatric residential treatment capacity in several areas in the state.
