Oregon behavioral health center lands $2.6M federal funding, set to open in fall

Multnomah County (Ore.) Health Department landed $2.6 million in federal funding for a new behavioral health center in Portland, NBC affiliate KGW8 reported April 17.

The 24,000-square-foot, $26 million facility will feature a 7,000-square-foot plaza, the report said. A peer-run day center within the center will open in the fall, and a 33-bed shelter will open next year.

"This center says we are going to address the issues of mental health and homelessness in a comprehensive way," U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley said.
