The center, which first opened less than four months ago, acts as a day center for personal care, offering bathrooms, showers and laundry services for homeless individuals, in addition to providing a space to begin mental health and substance use treatment, the report said.
The center abruptly closed for staff training and facility upgrades. It is set to reopen April 17, according to a sign left on the door of the center.
A communications director for Multnomah County shared a statement with The Oregonian, saying, “We realized there were some programmatic and infrastructure needs that needed to be addressed and this is the time to do it — before the county adds a shelter and transition housing to the current day center program later this spring.”
