Northwell researcher elected behavioral medicine fellow

New Hyde Park, NY.-based Northwell Health’s Stephanie Fitzpatrick, PhD, was elected a fellow of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research, a scientific organization in the field of behavioral medicine. 

Dr. Fitzpatrick is a clinical health psychologist, behavioral medicine researcher and implementation scientist at Northwell Health’s Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research based in Manhasset, N.Y., according to a Feb. 5 news release. The fellowship recognized her contributions to behavioral medicine across research, training, service and leadership in psychology, medicine and public health.

Her research focuses on boosting access to evidence-based programs for chronic disease prevention and management in clinical and community-based settings. She has served as principal or co-investigator on 12 federally and foundation-funded grants, and has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed articles. 

The honor follows Dr. Fitzpatrick’s August 2024 appointment as the youngest and first Black president of the Society for Health Psychology.
