North Carolina Health Secretary Kody Kinsley has approved the merger of three behavioral health management care organizations in the state, the Winston-Salem Journal reported Dec. 19.
The move to consolidate marks the largest MCO merger in North Carolina, with Trillium Health Resources becoming the surviving entity of its merger with Eastpointe Human Services and Sandhills Center.
The merger will cover 46 counties in North Carolina — nearly half of the state's 100 counties — primarily in the eastern region. It will go into effect Jan. 1, with the consolidation transition for members and providers taking place Feb. 1, the report said.
