North Carolina hospital adds medical director for behavioral health

M. Ed Kelley, MD, has been appointed medical director of the behavioral health department at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., according to a June 23 report from ABC affiliate WLOS.

Dr. Kelley joins Mission Hospital from St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine, where he served as chief of behavioral health. He will oversee Mission Hospital’s new mental health facility, which will bring 38 additional behavioral health beds to the region.

Sweeten Creek Mental Health & Wellness Center will treat pediatric to geriatric patients and is scheduled to open in August, the report said.
