New Mexico crisis center closes

The Doña Ana County Triage Crisis Center in Las Cruces, N.M., has closed, CBS affiliate KOB reported Jan. 31.

The center — which served as a place for law enforcement to place people in the area experiencing a mental health crisis — is closing after just two and a half years due to lack of funding.

Officers in Las Cruces will now have to turn to emergency departments, including the Three Crosses Regional Hospital, Memorial Medical Center, Mountain View Regional Medical Center and Mesilla Valley Hospital, when they encounter those in a mental health crisis.
