New Hampshire county to open 16 behavioral health beds for nursing home patients

Strafford County has signed a deal with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services to make 16 beds available for nursing home eligible citizens at Riverside Rest Home in Dover, Foster's Daily Democrat reported Aug. 9.

This deal will make 16 long-term behavioral health beds available in a secured unit within the nursing home. The contract includes $340,000 to update the unit and will move to the governor and executive council for approval.

Upon approval, Riverside will add the 16 beds as an extension of its current behavioral health services that already includes 22 beds. Riverside is one of only three nursing homes in the state to include behavioral health beds.
