Nebraska, College of St. Mary partner on nurse training program

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the College of St. Mary in Omaha have formed a partnership to provide nursing students with clinical experience at the Lincoln Regional Center, a psychiatric hospital in Lincoln.

The collaboration aims to help students gain practical training in mental health care while addressing staffing needs at LRC, according to an Nov. 12 health department news release shared with Becker’s. Under the partnership, students from the College of Saint Mary are working at Lincoln Regional Center to assist with the care of adult patients with severe mental health conditions. 

Students will learn about the roles of nurses and other healthcare professionals in a psychiatric setting and how to provide care to individuals with mental health challenges. 

Lincoln Regional Center is a psychiatric hospital operated by the health department.
