Nebraska bill looks to redirect ARPA funds to support behavioral health providers

A proposed bill in Nebraska is looking to redirect funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to support behavioral health students and professionals across the state.

LB931, if approved, would reallocate $2.5 million to the University of Nebraska Board of Regents to be used for Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska initiatives, according to a report from the Nebraska Legislature.

$1 million would be allocated to BHECN stipends and supervision of behavioral health trainees, another $1 million would be used to support provisionally licensed behavioral health providers and the remaining $500,000 would be directed to recruitment and retention efforts.
