The Nebraska Behavioral Health Education Center will allocate $20 million for behavioral health-related workforce projects throughout the state, Norfolk Daily News reported Jan. 26.
The state has identified 83 workforce projects to receive part of the $25.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds that went to the organization. Nebraska has designated $40 million in behavioral health workforce funding altogether.
Children's Hospital & Medical Center and Community Alliance's new headquarters and expanded services will receive a portion of the $20 million. Both facilities are in Omaha, Neb.
The education center received almost 200 applications equaling $50 million in funding from facilities across the state.
Funding is awarded based on four categories: behavioral health training and education, tele-behavioral health in rural areas, behavioral health projects to address the COVID-19 pandemic, and funding for supervision of provisionally licensed health providers. Fifty-two percent of the state's 83 behavioral health projects are in rural areas.
The center plans to hold a second round of applications.
