The state has identified 83 workforce projects to receive part of the $25.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds that went to the organization. Nebraska has designated $40 million in behavioral health workforce funding altogether.

Children’s Hospital & Medical Center and Community Alliance’s new headquarters and expanded services will receive a portion of the $20 million. Both facilities are in Omaha, Neb.

The education center received almost 200 applications equaling $50 million in funding from facilities across the state.

Funding is awarded based on four categories: behavioral health training and education, tele-behavioral health in rural areas, behavioral health projects to address the COVID-19 pandemic, and funding for supervision of provisionally licensed health providers. Fifty-two percent of the state’s 83 behavioral health projects are in rural areas.

The center plans to hold a second round of applications.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place October 20–22 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
