Montefiore secures $4.5M for school behavioral health services

New York City-based Montefiore Health System will use $4.5 million from the state to create behavioral health clinics at public schools in Bronx and Westchester counties.

The funds will be used by the Montefiore School Health Program to renovate clinical sites and pay for operating expenses of school-based centers, according to a news release from the health system shared with Becker's on Jan. 26.

The program is projected to provide mental health services to more than 10,000 students through therapy, psychiatric assessments, crisis intervention and more, according to the release. Providers will also work with families to help them secure access to housing, legal services, health insurance and food and nutritional assistance.
