North Memorial Health Hospital will close its outpatient mental health services at the end of August, the Star Tribune reported March 20.
In addition to the closure, Robbinsdale, Minn.-based North Memorial Health will lay off more than 100 employees in clinical and nonclinical roles, the system told Becker's. Of these roles, 27 are in mental health services, according to the Star Tribune.
The system will work to find 3,400 patients new providers for outpatient treatment before the mental health unit closes on Aug. 30, the Star Tribune reported.
A spokesperson for North Memorial Health told Becker's the decisions were made with consideration of the system's "short-term viability and long-term sustainability of our mission." Laid-off employees may be eligible for other open roles in the system.
