A Citizens Research Council of Michigan report published in January found that 40 percent of Michigan residents with behavioral health conditions are going without treatment. Among those with substance use disorders, that number climbs to 80 percent.
“The time is really good because there is such a high need out there in our community right now,” Common Ground President and CEO Heather Rae told the Detroit Free Press.
Adult residents who can’t get an appointment to see a psychologist or psychiatrist can now use the virtual urgent care, the report said. Common Ground is also planning to add a physical location to complement its existing centers in Pontiac and Royal Oak.
The cost of an evaluation at the virtual urgent care is $220 for those with no insurance, with psychotherapy ranging from $75 to $125, depending on the length of the session, the report said.
