MetroHealth plans psychiatric emergency department

Cleveland-based MetroHealth plans to open a new psychiatric emergency department as another closes its doors.

St. Vincent Charity Community Health Center in Cleveland will close its psychiatric emergency department on June 30, according to a June 20 news release from MetroHealth.

MetroHealth plans to open a new psychiatric emergency department on its Cleveland Heights, Ohio, campus in the fall. The emergency department will be adjacent to MetroHealth's Cleveland Heights Behavioral Health Hospital and will receive funding from the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Cuyahoga County.

St. Vincent Charity will not accept new patients after June 30, according to the release. Until the new psychiatric emergency department opens at MetroHealth, patients will be routed to the closest appropriate emergency department.
