Mental health funding recap: July's biggest investments

A $237 million psychiatric hospital and five more of July's largest monetary investments in mental health services reported by Becker's:

1. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced a $3.7 billion education budget for fiscal year 2023 July 8, which included $100 million for adult mental health services and  $100 million for student mental health support.

2. HHS and the U.S. departments of Labor, Education and related agencies announced fiscal year 2023's behavioral health budget July 29, including $1.42 billion in mental health block grants and $385 million for community behavioral health centers nationwide.

3. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's $697 million three-digit suicide lifeline went live July 16.

4. Legislators approved plans for a 200-bed, $237 million psychiatric hospital in Dallas County, Texas.

5. Michigan legislators announced a $233.1 million investment for mental health infrastructure July 7.

6. Denver-based Everside Health announced plans to use its $164 million venture capital to add more mental health services to its primary care services July 25.
