Massachusetts behavioral health provider agrees to pay $700K in fraud settlement

Brockton, Mass.-based Luminosity Behavioral Health has agreed to pay $700,000 to resolve allegations of fraud, The Enterprise reported Oct. 19.

The settlement follows an investigation from the Massachusetts attorney general's office, which found that Luminosity submitted claims to MassHealth and MassHealth managed care entities by using billing codes that overstated the scope of services it provided to MassHealth members and inflated the amount of payment claimed for its services.

In addition to the $700,000 payment, Luminosity has agreed to implement a three-year independent compliance monitoring program that will include employee training and periodic audits to ensure it complies with federal and state law, the report said.
