University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas has partnered with Clark County to open a crisis stabilization center.
The outpatient facility is the first and only in southern Nevada serving individuals 18 years or older who are experiencing a mental health crisis or substance use concerns, according to a Feb. 25 Facebook post from the county. It accepts patients who seek help voluntarily, as well as those transported by law enforcement and emergency medical services.
The center is staffed 24/7 by licensed mental health professionals and nurses, and includes 35 outpatient chairs. Services are provided regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
The facility is designed to provide an alternative to emergency departments and jails, according to the post.
