Jacksonville hospital to add behavioral health unit

Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., has begun renovations to open an inpatient behavioral health unit, The Jacksonville Daily Record reported July 25.

The 20-bed inpatient unit will replace the pediatric intensive care unit on the hospital's third floor and has been funded by a $3 million donation from the Players Championship Village and $5 million from the 2023-24 state budget.

Wolfson Children’s Hospital currently includes the 14-bed Larry J. Freeman Behavioral Health Unit and an eight-bed behavioral health pod in the hospital's emergency center. The new facility will bring the hospital's number of pediatric intensive care beds to 41 when it opens in the spring of 2024.
