The access portal known as BEACON — short for Behavioral Health Care and Ongoing Navigation — will help Illinois families access behavioral and mental health resources for their children, according to a Jan. 29 news release from Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s office.
“We are doing away with decentralized, difficult-to-navigate behavioral health resources scattered across different agencies, providers, and websites,” Mr. Pritzker said in the release. “Instead, families will have a modern, easy-to-use online system to guide them through the behavioral health universe.”
The portal will be powered by Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence and cloud computing technology, the release said.
At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
