Hackensack Meridian launches youth suicide prevention training for nurses

Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health is launching a youth suicide prevention training program for nurses across the health system.

Non-behavioral health nurses will be trained to better assess, evaluate, and treat or refer suicidal patients with whom they come into contact, according to a Sept. 25 Hackensack Medirian news release. The initial phase will serve as a baseline for the expanded training of thousands of nurses across the system by 2025.

The program is being launched with a $100,000 grant from the Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children's Mental Health and a partnership with The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide.
