Former behavioral health tech pleads guilty to sexual misconduct

Edy Velasquez, a former behavioral health technician in Lantana, Fla., pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct of a female patient, CBS affiliate WPEC reported May 8.

The victim initially reported the misconduct in January 2022 and pressed charges in May 2022. She also informed a staff member before filing the police report, according to court documents obtained by the news outlet. The mental health facility where the assault took place has since closed, according to WPEC.

Mr. Velasquez was charged with sexual misconduct by a facility employee with a patient. He will serve 364 days in jail and be on probation for five years. 

His sentence is set to begin May 23, according to the report.
