Question: What are your top priorities today?

Dr. Páll Matthíasson:

1. Ensuring more funding into mental health treatments.

2. To train and hire more professionals.

3. To build recovery focused mental health facilities. 

4. Analyzing pathways of care and ways to reduce gaps and gray zones within treatment. 

5. Ensuring vulnerable populations get adequate services.

Q: What projects or initiatives are you most excited by?

PM: Using telepsychiatry and telecare to reach more people, especially marginalized, vulnerable and remote populations.

New treatments, from individual placement support to TMS and psychedelics.

Q: How do you see behavioral health evolving in the next 2 to 3 years?

PM: More equality and better reach through more use of telehealth, telecare and digital treatment platforms.
