Here are five updates about CVS Health's growing hand in behavioral health, as reported by Becker's since Jan. 9:
1. Taft Parsons, MD, CVS Health chief psychiatric officer, shared insight on how CVS' virtual care options have improved mental healthcare access for seniors in the company's "Health Trends Spring 2023" report.
2. CVS Health debuted mental health counseling and care services at six of its locations in the Los Angeles area and debuted virtual care services to all California residents.
3. CVS Health's Accountable Care Organization and Long Island, N.Y.-based Catholic Health partnered to expand value-based care access for more than 40,000 Medicare beneficiaries within the group's physician network by providing assistance with connecting to healthcare services, including home-based care, transportation support and services addressing social determinants of health.
4. CVS Health launched new virtual care options for Aetna members, including services for scheduling appointments and 24/7 access to treatment for common illnesses and infections and connecting members to clinicians, including licensed therapists and psychiatrists, for mental health support seven days a week.
5. CVS Health invested $25 million to Array Behavioral Healthcare, a virtual psychiatry and therapy provider.
