Grand Rapids, Mich.- and Southfield, Mich.-based Corewell Health has opened an outpatient behavioral health clinic in Dearborn, Mich., to expand access to mental healthcare across the state.

The Corewell Health Behavioral Health Clinic provides services including diagnostic evaluations, therapy and medication management for adults 18 and older, according to a Jan. 14 news release shared with Becker’s. The clinic has offered virtual care for patients with ADHD, eating disorders, anxiety and depression since October, and is now open for in-person visits.

The project was supported by an $8 million grant from the state of Michigan. The facility will also serve as a training site for psychiatry residents — a move Corewell Health said will help address the state’s psychiatrist shortage.

In 2024, the Michigan Health and Hospital Association reported that more than 1.2 million emergency room visits involved behavioral health concerns. On a typical day, more than 155 patients in the state wait in hospital emergency departments for access to behavioral health services, according to the release.

The new site is located across from Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital and near Metropolitan Behavioral Health, an inpatient psychiatric hospital jointly operated by Corewell Health and King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services.
