Connecticut behavioral health clinician charged with Medicaid fraud

A Connecticut behavioral health clinician has been arrested and charged for submitting false claims to the state's Medicaid program.

Darlene Shuff-Porter, a licensed behavioral health clinician and owner of Dailey Professional Counseling Services in Meriden, was charged with one count of health insurance fraud and one count of larceny, according to a Nov. 28 news release from the Connecticut State Division of Criminal Justice.

Ms. Shuff-Porter allegedly submitted claims to the state Department of Social Services for psychotherapy services with patients she did not meet between December 2018 and April 2020, according to the arrest warrant affidavit and evidence acquired through an investigation.
