Connecticut behavioral health center buys, renovates house for recovery patients

McCall Center for Behavioral Health, based in Torrington, Conn., purchased a house that will undergo a $325,000 renovation and be used for individuals in recovery from substance use and mental health disorders, according to an Aug. 15 report from The Register Citizen.

The money for the renovation comes from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration, and the house's interior will be updated with living and office spaces, improved parking access and additional space for group programs, Maria Coutant Skinner, executive director of McCall, said in the report.

McCall offers residential and outpatient recovery services such as therapy and group counseling for teens, adults and families. The new house is one of the residential treatment programs offered and is an upgrade from the prior Hanson House program for women in recovery that McCall has outgrown.
