Compass Health opens psychiatric outpatient facility in Louisiana

Crowley, La.-based Compass Health has opened a new behavioral health center in Lafayette, La., ABC affiliate KATC3 reported Feb. 28.

The 7,600-square-foot facility offers six group rooms for intensive outpatient therapy and a mental health clinic.

The Compass Behavioral Center will be led by David Dawes, MD, psychiatric medical director; Charles Bramlet, MD, associate medical director; Kate Spears, psychiatric nurse practitioner; and social worker Tara Charpentier.

"Treating psychiatric symptoms at onset is key," said Mark Cullen, founder and chair of Compass Health. "By increasing access to outpatient clinic appointments, individuals will receive care in the least restrictive setting and fewer psychiatric inpatient beds will be needed. Our Compass clinic will create access to an additional 8,000 mental health appointments annually."
