The state of Colorado will begin offering $14,000 signing bonuses for nurses who agree to work at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Fort Logan and Pueblo, NBC affiliate 9News reported March 16.
The move comes as an effort to properly staff the two hospitals, which have over 100 empty beds combined. The hospitals cannot use these beds until they can hire more nurses.
The hiring bonuses will be dispersed in three payments to the first 1,000 new nurses.
