Board-certified psychiatrist Morgan Medlock, MD, was named the new behavioral health commissioner.

“This is really a historic moment for Colorado to build a crisis services center that is able to meet people where they are and also connect them to the continuum of care,” Dr. Medlock said.

Dr. Medlock said the administration is working to equip existing walk-in centers with digital treatment options to make services more accessible to Colorado residents.

The Behavioral Health Administration will provide more details on how to access care when a public-facing care directory is launched in July.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place October 20–22 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
