Colorado behavioral health facility gets 2nd 'immediate jeopardy' designation

Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health in Johnstown, Colo., has received its second "immediate jeopardy" designation from state regulators, according to a July 5 report from ABC affiliate KMGH.

This designation is the state's most serious for a mental health hospital and follows an April report from state inspectors that found the facility failed to keep patients safe, citing an incident in which multiple employees carried a patient seeking treatment for suicide threats out by her arms and legs and left her in the parking lot.

The hospital received its first "immediate jeopardy" designation in November, following the death of a patient in the facility's detox unit. The most recent designation has been lifted in response to corrective actions taken by the hospital, including additional staff training, according to KMGH.
