Children’s Minnesota opening its 1st inpatient mental health unit

Minneapolis-based Children’s Minnesota is opening its first inpatient mental health unit later this year, Minneapolis/St.Paul Business Journal reported June 21.

Brooklyn Park, Minn.-based mental health provider PrairieCare will help run the unit, which will be located at the system’s St. Paul, Minn., hospital, the report said. It will provide care for about 1,000 young people each year.

The unit will serve children as young as 6, the report said. It includes 22 dedicated inpatient psychiatric beds.
