Chesapeake Regional Healthcare to open behavioral health facility

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is opening a 20-bed unit at Chesapeake (Va.) Regional Medical Center, WAVY News reported Oct. 16.

The new unit will serve as the city's first licensed behavioral health unit and marks one of several moves the health system is making to increase access to behavioral health care in the area.

In addition to the unit, the health system has introduced the "Right Help, Right Now" initiative, which focuses on providing resources for pre-crisis, crisis and post-crisis care. Chesapeake is also set to launch a comprehensive psychiatric emergency program next summer.

The inpatient and outpatient programs at the medical center are expected to open in October 2024.
