California university launches tech and mental health concentration in psychology master's program

Amid the seemingly incongruent trends of behavioral health staffing shortages and rising investments in behavioral health technology, Palo Alto (Calif.) University is offering a new tech- and mental health-focused concentration for its psychology master's program.

The university said June 3 that students taking on the concentration will learn to identify the impact of technology on human psychology, which digital tools contribute to mental health, and how to develop them.

Some trends covered by the concentration include the effects of technology on children and adolescents, mental health and design in the digital world, reducing health disparities through evidence-based internet interventions, and multimedia learning for product design.
