The funds will support mental health services, substance use disorder treatment and diversion programs aimed at reducing crime and aiding rehabilitation in local communities, according to the news release.

The funding comes from savings derived from Proposition 47, an 2014 initiative that decreases penalties for certain nonviolent crimes and reallocates the savings from reduced incarceration to support rehabilitation efforts.
