Brightside Health debuts telehealth crisis care

Mental healthcare company Brightside Health launched a telehealth program designed to treat individuals at risk of suicide.

Crisis Care is a four- to 12-week treatment program for individuals who are actively suicidal, need follow-up care after hospitalization or have had a recent suicide attempt, according to a Dec. 12 news release from the company.

The program offers services including one-on-one weekly video sessions, online check-ins and 24/7 call and messaging support.

"Patients with active suicide risk are often seen in settings where they cannot access the right kind of care," Mimi Winsberg, MD, chief medical officer and co-founder of Brightside Health, said in the release. "With Crisis Care, patients are quickly connected with [specialized] clinicians to get the most appropriate care."

The program has been launched in some states, with plans to expand nationwide, the release said.
