The agreement will be effective July 1 and will add Franciscan to Boston Children’s corporate umbrella, the Children’s Medical Center Corporation. Through the affiliation, the hospitals will invest $500 million to modernize Franciscan’s campus to host a range of mental health and medical rehabilitation services.

The hospitals also plan to hire between 150 and 200 new full-time employees by 2030 to improve care for children and nearly double their behavioral health bed capacity, the report said.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
