Biden administration awards $130M to certified community behavioral health clinics

The Biden administration has awarded nearly $130 million to expand certified community behavioral health clinics across the country.

The grants will work with provisions of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to expand access to the CCBHC model, according to a Sept. 21 news release. Under this act, HHS will enable up to 10 more states to create state CCBHC programs under Medicaid every two years beginning in 2024.

The announcement includes 128 grants to health clinics in 40 states and Puerto Rico, with each grantee receiving up to $1 million per year for four years. Sixty-three grants were awarded for CCBHC planning, development and implementation, while 65 will go toward CCBHC improvement and advancement.
