Behavioral health CEO to plead guilty to healthcare fraud

The CEO of a Massachusetts behavioral health company has agreed to plead guilty to six counts of healthcare fraud. 

According to a Sept. 10 news release from the Justice Department, Miguel Saravia, the CEO of Needham, Mass.-based Dana Group Associates was charged with healthcare fraud. 

The Justice Department alleged that between 2017 and 2023, Mr. Saravia directed individuals with no billing or medical training to enter billing codes for services not provided and upcode psychotherapy visits. 

The department also alleged Mr. Saravia submitted or directed the treatment of false claims for treatments not provided. 

Mr. Saravia agreed to plead guilty to the charges, according to the release. Before leading Dana Group Associates, Mr. Saravia was the COO of Prime Behavioral Health.
