Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System is opening the first behavioral health urgent care center in West Central Florida.
The center will offer same-day and walk-in appointments with behavioral health professionals, who will provide mental health and addiction screenings and assessments, according to a Jan. 17 news release.
The project will be funded by $3.7 million over three years from the Pasco County Commission's opioid settlement money. The funds will be used to renovate an existing building for the center that will be next to BayCare Behavioral Health buildings in New Port Richey that offer inpatient detoxification and withdrawal management services.
