Arkansas behavioral health clinic to shutter

Baxter Regional Behavioral Health Clinic in Mountain Home, Ark., will close its doors to patients Oct. 13.

The decision to close the outpatient clinic was based on stagnant reimbursement for services, supply chain shortages, high inflation and a sustained healthcare workforce shortage driving labor costs, according to a blog post published Sept. 26 on the Baxter Health website.

Baxter Health will continue to operate both its inpatient adult and geriatric behavioral health units. All current patients of the closing clinic have been provided a list of community behavioral health providers and are eligible for assistance with medication refills through Dec. 31.

At the Becker's Fall Behavioral Health Summit, taking place November 4–5 in Chicago, behavioral health leaders and executives will explore strategies for expanding access to care, integrating services, addressing workforce challenges and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes across the behavioral health continuum.
