Maine Behavioral Healthcare has received a five-year, $2 million grant to support its suicide prevention efforts, Bangor Daily News reported Oct. 10.
The funding, which was provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, will be used to launch the project Life Worth Living. The project aims to reduce suicide ideation, attempts and deaths in adults across eight rural counties through southern, western and coastal Maine.
The project will follow the national "Zero Suicide" initiative, which MBH first adopted in 2020. The initiative focuses on error reduction, training, communication and education in suicide prevention, the report said.
