Acadia opens 100-bed Arizona behavioral hospital

Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare held a ribbon cutting April 11 to unveil its Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.

The 100-bed hospital, which will admit patients in the coming days, will offer inpatient behavioral healthcare services for pediatric patients and adults. It will also provide treatment for those dealing with behavioral health disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression, according to an April 11 news release.

"It is estimated that Mesa and the surrounding communities have a deficit of more than 800 behavioral health beds," Jennifer Nuñez, CEO of Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital, said in the release. "Our hospital's leadership and staff have worked extremely hard to prepare the hospital for accepting and treating these patients."

Acadia Healthcare comprises 253 behavioral healthcare facilities with around 11,200 beds across 38 states and Puerto Rico. It has around 23,500 employees, according to the release.

Becker's has reached out to Acadia for the cost of the hospital project and will update this story as more information becomes available.
