According to a layoff notification filed Jan. 30, the 92-bed facility will lay off all of its employees, affecting more than 150 people.
Sabrina Gibson, CEO of Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health, told ABC affiliate Denver7 the decision to close was made with “deep consideration for the community.”
“The decision to wind down resulted from a comprehensive review of business and operational dynamics in the Colorado market including shifting referral and reimbursement trends, patient census and acuity, bed expansions and new facilities in closer proximity to major population centers,” Ms. Gibson said.
Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health opened in 2021. The company took over the location from Clear View Behavioral Health, which was shut down by state regulators in 2019 for violations of patient safety regulations, according to Denver7.
Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health continued to face scrutiny from state regulators, according to Denver7. The facility received two immediate jeopardy designations from the state in 2023.
The facility is fully licensed and in good standing with the state, and accredited by The Joint Commission, Ms. Gibson said.
