Nine new behavioral health centers are being built or planned in Massachusetts, Nebraska, Ohio, Texas, North Carolina and Washington.

1. National behavioral health service provider Acadia Healthcare and Massachusetts-based Tufts Medicine formed a joint venture to build what Acadia CEO calls a "critically needed" behavioral health hospital in the Boston area. Acadia and Tufts will invest more than $65 million to expand behavioral health services in the area, with this hospital being Acadia's 17th joint venture.
2. A clinic with behavioral health services is coming to Elkhorn, Neb. Omaha-based CHI Health will provide services at the 28,700-square-foot clinic. In addition to behavioral health, it will offer primary care, physical therapy, specialty care, imaging services, a lab and retail pharmacy.
3. Findlay, Ohio-based behavioral health provider Family Resource Center is opening several new locations. The provider is opening campuses in Wapakoneta and Greenville. New locations will launch in Troy and Fostoria later in the year.
4. Legislators approved plans for a 200-bed, $237 million psychiatric hospital in Dallas County, Texas, but some area officials don't think it's enough to properly serve the area. The facility, expected to open in 2025, will provide 60-day stays to patients from six Dallas-area counties.
5. Greenville, N.C.-based ECU Health and Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare plan to build a 144-bed behavioral health hospital in Greenville. The joint venture hospital aims to be a Center of Excellence for behavioral health services. The organizations said they will invest about $65 million combined to expand behavioral health services in eastern North Carolina.
6. UW Medicine is planning to build a 184,000-square-foot behavioral health teaching facility in Seattle that will also offer behavioral health treatment. The facility is a joint venture between local architecture firm SRG Partnership, health technology company and construction team Clark|Abbott and the University of Washington in Seattle. It will offer interdisciplinary training and development programs for healthcare students.
