J.D. Power’s 2022 U.S. Medicare Advantage study asked 3,094 Medicare Advantage plan members from May-July about six coverage factors in order of importance:
1. Coverage and benefits
2. Provider options
3. Cost
4. Customer service
5. Information and communication
6. Billing and payment
The survey also found that only 27 percent of members felt they had enough coverage for substance use disorder treatment.
“With an estimated 1.7 million Medicare beneficiaries living with a diagnosed substance use disorder and one in four Medicare beneficiaries living with a mental health condition, there is a big opportunity for Medicare Advantage plans to support more patients and families in need,” Christopher Lis, managing director of global healthcare intelligence at J.D. Power, said in an Aug. 18 news release from the company.
