Here are 32 treatment centers that have opened, expanded or been announced recently, as reported by Becker’s since April 10:
1. A 208-bed behavioral health hospital opened in Columbus, Ohio. It will be run by the state.
2. Gesinger relocated its outpatient mental health services from its main hospital campus to a dedicated outpatient center in its Hughes Center South building in Danville, Pa.
3. University of Washington Medicine opened a 150-bed, $244 million behavioral health facility in Seattle on its UW Medical Center – Northwest campus.
4. Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network and King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services is developing a 144-bed behavioral hospital in Hanover Township, Pa., that will open in fall 2025.
5. Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, N.J., is planning a $9 million project to create dedicated spaces in its emergency room for patients seeking mental healthcare.
6. UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Ill., added 15 inpatient beds to its behavioral health unit to better meet a growing need for mental health services.
7. Clay County (Kan.) Medical Center is developing a $3.8 million expansion project that will include a new mental health clinic and other services in Clay Center, Kan.
8. Geisinger and Acadia Healthcare broke ground on a 96-bed inpatient hospital in Danville, Pa., that is slated to open in spring 2025. It will also serve as a teaching hospital for students and residents at Geisinger’s College of Health Sciences.
9. Texas is planning a $159 million inpatient mental health facility in Amarillo. The 75-bed facility will be the only state-run mental health facility in the Texas Panhandle.
10. Highland Clarksburg (W.Va.) Hospital unveiled a 20-bed voluntary behavioral health inpatient unit.
11. New York plans to add 200 beds to its state-run psychiatric facilities as part of a $33 million investment in mental health.
12. Construction is set to begin on a $34 million, 32-bed behavioral health facility in Uvalde, Texas, that is slated to open in 2025.
13. Sixteen school-based mental health clinics will open within the next six months to offer care to more than 6,000 New York City Public Schools students through a partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals.
14. Construction is underway on a 72-bed behavioral facility in Youngstown, Ohio, as a joint venture between Mercy Health and Lifepoint Health.
15. Tallahassee-based behavioral health provider Apalachee Center and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare opened a joint venture outpatient treatment center in Tallahassee, Fla. The center will also house Florida State University’s psychiatry residency program.
16. Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare opened its 100-bed Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.
17. San Antonio State Hospital opened its $357 million replacement psychiatric facility.
